A taxi streaked with blood is the focus of a police investigation which has closed a central Auckland street and left a person suffering injuries after an early morning fight.

Auckland Transport is advising motorists to avoid Vincent St after the upper section was cordoned off due to a police operation.

A silver sedan marked with a Discount Taxi sign is straddling the downtown Auckland street's centre line, blood splattered over its front passenger window and door.
