The grandmother of a 2-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered is remembering her “bubbly, beautiful, blonde-haired little girl” who loved animals, playing outside and had a penchant for two-dollar shop jewellery.

The grandmother told the Herald she was “completely blindsided” by the child’s death, who she described as a “bright little button with a massive future”.

“I was there when [her mother] gave birth to her, so I saw her take her first breath and unfortunately my last memory of her was when ... she took her last breath.

“She was such a dinky wee mouse, so I just can’t understand why someone would [allegedly hurt her].”
